Acrylic Workshop Feb 2014

After a bit of a wait we finally arrived at 15 February 2014 the date set for our second all-day acrylic workshop on animals. Despite the weather (a very windy night on the 14th) most people managed to get to Leaside Church Hall in Ware. We even had some members of our Stotfold classes come and join in the fun.

The subject for this workshop was animals the same as the December 2013 and the painters brought along a varied selection of photographs to work from. We had pictures of people’s dogs, horses and kittens through to penguins and frogs and even a koala from a trip to Australia.

Anne started the day off with a quick talk about how to paint in acrylic together with a discussion about the type of palette that is best to use. She began her demonstration by showing how to produce a background for the subject (Anne’s demonstration piece of a Cockerel is shown in this gallery). After everyone had completed their backgrounds we had a well earned tea break and enjoyed hot cross buns (a bit early for Easter but hey!) kindly brought along by one of the painters. The yummy shortbread biscuits that someone else brought along were saved for afternoon tea break – thank you to both of you.

Throughout the rest of the day Anne was on hand to help and guide the others into producing some fantastic work, a small selection of which is shown in this Gallery.

The feedback on the day was that everyone enjoyed themselves immensely including the person who had not painted in acrylics before. The question of the day was when are we doing it again?
